Bhavan's BVM Ashti hosts two-day capacity building workshop on communication skills

NAGPUR: Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Ashti hosted a two-day Capacity Building Workshop on development of communication skills on June 17 and 18, 2026.

The workshop was led by resource person Susmita Roy Choudhury, Dean Academics at G D Goenka Public School, Jammu. The dignitaries present included Annapoorni Shastri, director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Nagpur Kendra, Arunima Majumdar, director (training) of Bhavan's Teacher Training Centre Nagpur Kendra, Anju Bhutani, Academic Coordinator, and principals Leena Varghese (Civil Lines), Lalit Dinkar Joshi (Shrikrishna Nagar), Vandana Bisen (Ashti), Parwati Iyer (Trimurti Nagar), Sarbani Bose (Koradi) and Raji Srinivasan (Chinchbhuvan).

The programme commenced with the Sarvadharma Prayer. Anchoring was done by Christpher Paul and Payal Raina.

The first day focused on foundations of effective communication and barriers in communication, enabling participants to understand essential elements of communication and challenges that hinder it. Sessions on speaking skills, listening and pronunciation, and non-verbal communication and body language covered effective use of gestures, posture, facial expressions and eye contact.

The second day began with a reflective communication gallery walk, followed by sessions on classroom interaction and student engagement, writing for classroom communication and action planning. Participants collaborated in subject-specific groups to prepare and deliver presentations, demonstrating their understanding of the concepts learned.

The programme concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony. Chandni Mathur proposed the vote of thanks, followed by the National Anthem.
