Bhavan's BVM Ashti celebrates International Yoga Day

NAGPUR: Bhavan's Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Ashti, celebrated International Yoga Day in the school auditorium on June 21, 2026. The programme aimed to create awareness about the importance of yoga in maintaining physical health, mental well-being, self-discipline and emotional balance.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp, followed by a Sarva Dharma Prayer and felicitation of the Chief Guest. Dr. Kumkum (Bhattacharya) Boratkar, author, Professor and Ph.D. Guide in Physical Education, was the Chief Guest. Parents and teachers participated in the programme, with one parent from each class and section invited to be part of the celebration.
Selected students presented a yoga demonstration of asanas including Vrikshasana, Virbhadrasana, Trikonasana, Dhanurasana, Chakrasana and Sarvangasana. A Mass Yoga Session followed, comprising warm-up exercises, stretching exercises and pranayama practices including Kapalabhati, Anulom-Vilom and Shitali Pranayama, followed by Omkar chanting and meditation.
Dr. Boratkar addressed the gathering about the significance of yoga in daily life and encouraged students and parents to practise yoga regularly, noting that it develops physical fitness, mental clarity and emotional stability.
Manvendra Borikar, Manasvi Bhoyar, Priyoshi Mohanto and Anishka Rahangdale conducted the proceedings. Adheesh Sawarkar proposed the vote of thanks. Principal Vandana Bisen appreciated the participation of parents, teachers and students. The Sports Department team comprising Prashant Hadke, Sandeep Harnal, Rishabh Pandey, Praful Gajbhiye, Mamta Mohanto, Aanchal Naidu and Sonal Renghe supported the event's organisation. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
