Bhavan's BVM Ashti celebrates International Yoga Day

NAGPUR: Bhavan's Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Ashti, celebrated International Yoga Day in the school auditorium on June 21, 2026. The programme was organised to create awareness about the importance of yoga in maintaining physical health, mental well-being, self-discipline and emotional balance.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Kumkum (Bhattacharya) Boratkar, author, Professor and Ph.D. Guide in Physical Education, addressed the gathering and spoke on the significance of yoga in daily life. She encouraged students and parents to practise yoga regularly and emphasised that yoga helps develop physical fitness, mental clarity, emotional stability and inner harmony.

The event began with the Sarva Dharma Prayer and felicitation of the guest. Parents and teachers participated, with one parent from each class and section invited to be part of the celebration.

A group of students presented a disciplined yoga demonstration of asanas including Vrikshasana, Virbhadrasana, Trikonasana, Dhanurasana, Chakrasana and Sarvangasana. A mass yoga session followed, comprising warm-up exercises, stretching exercises and pranayama practices including Kapalabhati, Anulom-Vilom and Shitali Pranayama, followed by Omkar chanting and meditation.

The programme proceedings were conducted by Manvendra Borikar, Manasvi Bhoyar, Priyoshi Mohanto and Anishka Rahangdale. Adheesh Sawarkar proposed the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, Principal, parents, teachers, students and the Sports Department. The event concluded with the National Anthem.

Principal Vandana Bisen appreciated the participation of parents, teachers and students and remarked that yoga is a powerful tool for developing a healthy body, a calm mind and a disciplined personality. The Sports Department team of Prashant Hadke, Dr. Sandeep Harnal, Rishabh Pandey, Praful Gajbhiye, Mamta Mohanto, Aanchal Naidu and Sonal Renghe were applauded for their meticulous planning and organisation of the programme.
