DPS (Mihan) hosts Zone 5 Inter-DPS Boys Open Basketball Tournament 2026

NAGPUR: Delhi Public School MIHAN opened the Inter-DPS Boys Basketball Tournament (Open Category) for Zone 5 on October 9, 2026, at its campus. Eleven teams from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat are taking part in the three-day league-format tournament.
The chief guest was Dr. Sharad Suryawanshi, Director, YCMOU, Secretary, Nagpur District Athletics Association, and a former international athlete. The guest of honour was Shatrughna Gokhale, Secretary, Maharashtra Basketball Association and a Shiv Chhatrapati awardee. Management member Anunay Kedia, an alumnus of the London School of Economics, also attended. Tulika Kedia, Pro-Vice Chairperson and President of DPS MIHAN and DPS Kamptee Road, and Savita Jaiswal, Director of both schools, joined online. Yogeeta Umalkar, Principal, DPS Kamptee Road, and Indrajeet Parghania, Bursar, DPS MIHAN and Kamptee Road, were present.
Principal Nidhi Yadav gave the welcome address. She told the players that while winning is memorable, the friendships made on the court are among the most lasting rewards of school tournaments. Dr. Suryawanshi spoke on the importance of grassroots sports development. Gokhale spoke about the school's sports facilities. Anunay Kedia encouraged the players to stay focused and compete fairly.
The DPS Society flag was raised and balloons were released to open the tournament. Over 100 students of DPS MIHAN performed Lezim, and students of DPS Kamptee Road presented an orchestra.
In the opening match, DPS Chhindwara beat DPS Gandhidham. DPS Bopal, Ahmedabad, beat DPS Surat in the second match, and DPS Kolar Road beat DPS MIHAN in the third.
