Bhavan's BVM SKN conducts teacher induction training

NAGPUR: Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's schools conducted a six-day induction training programme for teachers at Bhavan's B.P. Vidya Mandir, Srikrishna Nagar. The programme aimed to equip educators with pedagogical, psychological and legal competencies aligned with the National Education Policy 2020.

Consultant Neuropsychiatrist Dr. Harkisan Mamtani emphasised that impactful teaching rests on cultivating trust, empathy and emotional engagement. He introduced the concept of the Emotional Bank Account and urged teachers to make consistent deposits of appreciation and encouragement. Teachers were sensitised to indicators of low self-esteem, anxiety, bullying and isolation using the 4 P's framework: Persistent, Pervasive, Problematic and Producing Impairment.

Annapoorni Shastri, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra, delivered a session on child rights, safety and the implications of corporal punishment. She highlighted the psychological repercussions of harassment and outlined National Education Policy and CBSE mandates prohibiting such practices. Teachers explored positive discipline strategies through case studies and interactive activities.

The programme was attended by Rajendra Purohit (Chairman), Arunima Mazumdar (Director, Training), Anju Bhutani (Academic Coordinator and Manager), and Principals Leena Varghese, Vandana Bisen, Parwati Iyer, Sarbani Bose, Raji Srinivasan, Janaki Mani and Kirti Mishra. Lalit Dinkar Joshi served as Venue Coordinator and Principal of Bhavan's B.P. Vidya Mandir, Srikrishna Nagar.
