DPS (Kamptee Road) hosts 4th DPS Challenge 64 Inter-School Chess Competition

NAGPUR: Delhi Public School Kamptee Road, Nagpur hosted the 4th edition of the DPS Challenge 64 Inter-School Chess Competition on 28th and 29th September, 2026. The two-day competition brought together young chess players from various schools, providing them with a platform to showcase their talent, concentration, patience and strategic thinking. The participants competed across three categories - Primary (Classes I-IV), Middle (Classes V-VII) and Senior (Classes VIII-X).

Ms. Tulika Kedia, President and Pro-Vice Chairperson, Delhi Public School Kamptee Road and MIHAN, Nagpur sent her warm wishes for the successful conduct of the competition. Ms. Savita Jaiswal, Director, Delhi Public School Kamptee Road and MIHAN, Nagpur also appreciated the efforts of all the participants.

The competition witnessed a disciplined atmosphere as the young players displayed focus, confidence and sportsmanship on the chessboards. The event was inaugurated by the Principal, Ms. Yogeeta Umalkar, through the ceremonial first move. The Chief Guest, Mr. Pradeep Tiwari, National Amateur Champion, graced the occasion with his presence and encouraged the young chess players with his words of appreciation and motivation.

The matches were conducted smoothly under the guidance of the Chief Arbiter, Mr. Shiva Iyer, International Arbiter. The competition concluded with Prize Distribution Ceremonies, where winners from the Primary, Middle and Senior categories were honoured for their achievements. Prizes were awarded in both individual and group categories, recognising performances as well as the collective achievements of participating schools.

The winners and participants were highly appreciated for their dedication, discipline and sportsmanship. The competition provided valuable exposure to inter-school chess and encouraged the students to develop critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving skills and perseverance.

Overall, the 4th DPS Challenge 64 Inter-School Chess Competition was a successful celebration of the intellectual and competitive spirit of chess. Over the two days, the event highlighted the importance of chess in sharpening the mind, strengthening concentration and nurturing strategic thinking, while also fostering healthy competition and camaraderie among the students from different schools.
